Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pinkk ("TryPinkk", "we", "us", or "our") handles information through the Pinkk Research Hub browser extension (the "Extension"). It applies only to the Extension and its connection and capture features.
Our broader website and account practices are described in our general Privacy Policy.
Contents
1. Information the Extension accesses
The Extension accesses information only when you explicitly use a capture action, such as a right-click menu item or screenshot tool. Depending on the action, this may include:
- The current page URL and page title.
- Text that you select or confirm for capture.
- The URL of an image you choose to save.
- A screenshot of the visible portion of the current browser tab, including a selected area where applicable.
- Visible information from a social post, such as its text, author handle, post identifier, publication date, hashtags, mentions, content type, and source URL.
- Optional research context that you enter before saving a social post.
The Extension does not continuously monitor your browsing activity. It does not collect your browsing history, passwords, form entries, files, microphone data, camera data, or information from pages that you have not actively chosen to capture.
2. Information stored locally
The Extension stores limited information in your browser:
- A TryPinkk authentication token so the Extension can connect to your account.
- A pending capture while you review it before saving.
- Your selected profile, favorite profiles, and recently used profiles.
Pending captures are removed when you remove or save them and are intended to remain only for the current browser session. The authentication token remains until you disconnect the Extension, clear its storage, or the token is revoked.
3. How we use information
We use Extension data only to:
- Authenticate the Extension with your TryPinkk account.
- Display your profiles, folders, and Research Hub limits.
- Match the current page URL to one of your profiles.
- Upload and save a capture to the Research Hub profile you select.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and rate-limit the Extension service.
We do not sell Extension data. We do not use Extension data for advertising or cross-site behavioral tracking. The Extension does not include third-party analytics or advertising software.
4. Information sent to TryPinkk
Information is sent to TryPinkk only when needed to provide an Extension feature, including when you connect or authenticate, load profiles, match a page URL, confirm a capture, or disconnect.
Submitted captures become part of your TryPinkk Research Hub data and are handled according to the account retention and deletion provisions in our general Privacy Policy.
5. Third-party websites
When saving an image by URL, your browser may request that image from the website hosting it. That website may receive normal technical information associated with the request and will handle it under its own privacy policy.
The Extension may operate on supported websites, including Instagram, X, and Twitter, to enable user-initiated capture features. It does not scrape pages in bulk, download content automatically, or collect page data for unrelated purposes.
You are responsible for ensuring that anything you capture is collected and used lawfully and does not violate another person's privacy, copyright, confidentiality, or platform rights.
6. Permissions
- Context menus: provides capture actions in the right-click menu.
- Active tab and scripting: reads or captures content after you invoke an Extension action.
- Storage: stores the authentication token, pending capture, and local profile preferences.
- Side panel: displays the capture review interface.
- Notifications: notifies you when a capture is ready to review.
The Extension does not use browser cookies to authenticate its capture requests. Authentication uses a restricted TryPinkk access token. The connection page may use your existing TryPinkk website login session to authorize creation of that token, but the Extension does not receive or store your website password.
7. Security and retention
Extension requests to TryPinkk are sent over HTTPS and authenticated using a restricted bearer token. We retain submitted Research Hub content for as long as necessary to provide the service, until you delete it or your account is deleted, subject to legal obligations and backup-retention periods.
No internet transmission or electronic storage system is completely secure. You should not capture information that you do not have permission to store.
8. Your choices and rights
- Remove a pending capture before saving it.
- Disconnect the Extension and revoke its authentication token.
- Clear locally stored Extension data through your browser.
- Delete saved Research Hub content through TryPinkk.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.
For privacy requests, contact [email protected].
9. Children, changes, and contact
The Extension is not directed to children under 13, or the higher minimum age required in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Extension.
We may update this Policy when the Extension's data practices change. The updated version will be published at this URL with a revised effective date.
Questions about this Policy or the Extension's data practices may be sent to [email protected].
